How to get your CAA ATPL (UK)

It's easy really!

Oh no it's not ! - but I'll try my best to help you!

When I myself went about training for a UK CAA Professional Pilots Licence,
I found that there was no information easily availible to fathom out the system.
Hopefully the information that follows will be of use to you.

Important Bit!

I must include with this information a DISCLAMER. Also, as the world of licences is consisently changing, particularly with the forthcoming JAA integration.
If you have any questions, or suggestions please mail me.

I am assuming that you are already the holder of a UK PPL. The diagrams below are quite straight forward. You must follow both the Flying and Ground School routes. You can sit CPL Nav Group instead of ATPL, but that is another debate!
You can sit your GFT before ground exams however it is not always advisable because the GFT is valid for 6 months, the exams are valid for 36 months.
All of the prices are approximate and correct at the time of printing.
I hope that this diagram helps!

I can offer reccommendations for schools and instructors as well as accommodation (in some places!) from myself and others. For obvious reasons this information is not availible on the WWW

I'm happy to give advice by email on any of the info. below.
(If you are nice and polite)

You can also send bribes to me but I have no connection to the CAA, and so it won't help you through the exams!

MORE TO COME.

I hope what I've got here so far is helpful! I'll be adding more when I have time free!

Meanwhile, you can mail me about anything!

GOOD LUCK!!
